Got back a $5RR for each one.
Final cost FREE + $.75 profit on each!

B1G1 FREE
Final cost $2.92 each!

Plus 5 squishy balls which were on clearance for $.63 each which were great filler items. My boys are way excited to have new balls for their favorite outside game ... dodge ball on the tramp!

Okay so my final OOP was $11.46 with a savings of $108.22!! Now if I wasn't such an airhead and hadn't forgotten to hand over 6 coupons my final OOP would've been $4.34. I have to come up with a better way to stay organized when doing so many transactions (today it was EIGHT). I started with $25 in RRs and ended up with $32 in RRs so in couponer math all this cost me a total of $4.46! (Would've been totally profitable if I was better at keeping things straight ... any ideas?)

Target Craziness

So I have found a fool proof way to have your Target checker just push all your coupons through rather then spending forever to inspect each one. Just have a puking baby sitting in your cart and they will push your coupons through and you right out the door. My poor baby! Luckily I was buying my 6 year old his school shoes and the empty shoe box was right there so I was able to catch it all quickly and avoid an even worse mess.

In the end I got all this for $24.39 with a savings of $78.78! That is way cheaper then the diapers would've been just on their own.

No more stores for me today ... just taking care of my sweet little sick baby.

Check out Hip2Save's Target posts HERE to find details on all these deals.

Moneymakers
: Glade Scented Oil Tins and Refills, Gerber Bottles, J&J Soap Buddies, Sponge Bob Toothpaste, Skittles Crazy Cores!
Everything else was super cheap or heavily discounted!

Free or Cheap Popcorn at Albies this week

Albies is having a big ConAgra promo this week where if you buy $25 in participating products you get back $10 in cats to spend on your next purchase. I am happy to say that there really wasn't anything on that list that I really need so I may just be skipping the sale this week.

They did have one non-promo item that I was in need of ... Microwave Popcorn. They have the Orville Redenbacher in the promo (more expensive at $.80 each with the promo) but they have the Jolly Time Popcorn on sale independent of the promo for $1 for a 3 pack. There are coupons HERE which are for $1/1 and $1/2 so with them you can get free or $.50 boxes of popcorn.

I was able to get 4 boxes for free and 8 boxes for $.50 each. In the end I paid $4 plus tax for 12 boxes.

If you are interested in the ConAgra promo deals then check out the Grocery Smarts planner or THIS PYP Thread for details.

Wags 8/25

Walgreens was a bit disappointing for me today. They really didn't have most of what I was looking for. I did score one deal that was great.

The Children's Zyrtec Hives relief grape syrup (4 oz.) bottle is on clearance for just $3.19.
Plus, when you buy 2 Zyrtec products, you'll get a $5 Register Reward!
This is a monthly Register Reward deal--valid through 8/29.

I bought 2 Children's Zyrtec Hives relief grape syrup $3.19 each
Total=$6.38
Used two $3 coupons from here
Paid $0.38 BUT then got back a $5 Register Reward
Final cost FREE + a $4.62 moneymaker!

*Not bad timing either since my baby has developed a penicillin allergy and is covered in hives right now!

Also, something good I learned today. Last week they had some online freebies with the photo lab. One day they had a code where you could get a free 8x10. I did that and picked it up today. My total was $0 for that item but if you ring it up anyway then it counts as a filler item even though it doesn't cost anything. We tested this out today and it worked. Can't get a better price for a filler item then FREE.

Target 8/25

Final cost $2.57 ... savings of $21.78!

Details:

5 Johnson’s Soap Buddies Bars $0.97 each
Used five $1 Target coupon
Final cost FREE + overage!

Thomas Nelson Book Review - Everyday Greatness

Everyday Greatness: Inspiration for a Meaningful Life by Stephen R. Covey (compiled by David K. Hatch) is a compilation of short stories from Readers Digest along with Coveys thoughts. This book is separated out into 7 sections with 3 principles in each. This is one of those books that you could just pick up and read from any point that you want. If there is a principle that you are interested in or has significant meaning to you at that point in your life you could just read that section. I really enjoyed this book and found myself tearing up at many of the stories. This book really helps to put things in the proper perspective when you see what others have endured, accomplished and learned. Of course most of the work was already done by Readers Digest which I have never read but am now intrigued by. But I did like how Covey (and Hatch) sorted them and put them into easy to read sections. I am usually more of a fiction reader and so this isn’t my usual sort of book but I did feel that this was a worthwhile read with some really good lessons to be learned.

Smiths 8/19

Smiths and Albies have similar ads this week but I chose to do Smiths over Albies because their promo takes off $5 instantly rather then giving you back a $5 cat. The prices in the end are similar but Smiths had a few more things that I wanted.

The promo is Buy 10 participating items and get $5 off instantly at checkout. The Smiths by me is always really good about coupons and I don't have to worry about how many of each type of IP so that makes it easier.

Here are the details:

12 Sobe Life Waters
- $.89 each, $.39 with the promo
Used 6 Buy one get one free coupons from here
Final price $.19 each!

5 Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks
- $1.99 each, $1.49 with the promo
Used five $.40/1 coupons
Plus I got back a $3.50 cat for buying 5 boxes
Final price $.39 each!

5 boxes of Nature Valley Granola Bars
- $2.49 each, $1.99 with the promo
Used five $.40/1 coupons
Plus I got back a $3.50 cat for buying 5 boxes
Final price $.89 each!

8 Wanchai Ferry Dinner Kits
- $3.49 each, $2.99 with the promo
Used eight $1.10/1 coupons
Final price $1.89 each!
Have you tried these? I LOVE THEM! They are so tasty! I have been waiting for a sale on these. They are normally $5.79 each so this was a great price!

In the end I got 30 items for less then $1 each and saved $53.40!
Check out the grocery smarts planner for coupon links and locations.

Wags 8/19

Okay so Walgreens is having a 4 days special ad where if you spend $25 (before coupons) then you will automatically get a $5 RR. I planned to do this but didn't pay enough attention to what I was doing. I got my total up over $25 but the $5 RR didn't print. Turns out I didn't make sure I was at $25 before tax. I was at $24.66 not counting the tax. What a dummy I am! Live and learn. Just remember to check that and know that we all make mistakes. :)

I still got some great deals.

I spent $17.65 OOP and got back $24 in RRs to use on future purchases.

Here are the details:

4 tubs of Huggies Wipes 64 ct $2.79
Used four .50 coupon from the 8/16SS
Plus, used the $2 Back-2-School coupon
Final cost $.29 per package!

6 Soft Soap Nutri Serum $3.99=$3.99RR
Used four $2 coupon from Coupons.com (not available anymore)
Final cost as low as 2 for FREE and 4 that were each a $2 moneymaker!

And then lots of school supplies that I needed for Brandon for 1st grade. They have some good deals with several items for $.49 each.

I used $12 in RRs from previous trans so factoring that in this all cost me $5.65 and I saved $36.90!

Albies / Kraft $25 in Free Groceries Promo

Questions on this promo? Me too! I waited until after reading THIS POST from UtahDealDiva (thank you!) to go to Albies for this promo because I wanted to make sure I had enough of my questions answered to be confident that my rebate would be processed successfully.

I did go to Albies tonight and did two transactions for this promo. You can of course only get one $20 rebate from Kraft per household but you will still get the $5 cat for each $25 you spend. If you look at the grocery planner for Albies this week you will see the final price listed for each item set at the price with the $5 cat factored in but not the rebate. The rebate form and $5 cat printed on one of my trans but not the other. They found that the Ritz crackers hadn't been linked to the promo yet so they printed me out another one and will work on getting the problem corrected. I like to shop at the beginning of a promo usually because I find that most of what I want in stock but the trade off is that they haven't always got all the bugs worked out yet. So be patient, it's just as frustrating for the checkers as it is for you.

Post Cereal Deals @ Albies

Need to stock up on "Adult" cereal? Albies has a great deal this week. Buy 4 participating Post cereals at $2.50 each and get $4 off instantly. This makes each box only $1.50. On top of that there are a couple other ways to save money.

Post Selects 13-16 oz
Buy 4 @ 2.50 each = $10
Minus $4 off instantly
Use two $1/2 any post coupons from the 7/26 SS
Pay $4 OOP
And STARTING ON 8/14 get back a $3 cat good OYNSO.
This makes your cost $1 for 4 boxes or $.25 each.

Honey Bunches of Oats Pecan Cereal
Buy 4 @ 2.50 each = $10
Minus $4 off instantly
Use four $2/1 HBoO Pecan coupons from HERE (I was only able to print 1 per computer)
or the $1/2 post coupon from the 7/26 SS
Depending on what coupons you use you could get these for really cheap, free or even make money on them.

Now I am a dummy ... seriously. I didn't notice that the cat didn't start until 8/14 so I went and bought my cereal this morning and the ad for the cat printed but not the cat. I didn't even realize until I got home that the cat wasn't running yet and neither did my most favorite checker who checked me out this morning. When she saw the ad that printed she and just gave me $3 cash back for each of the two transactions I did. So I got lucky and still got the great deal but be smarter then me and wait until the cat actually starts. I did end up getting 12 boxes of cereal (only 8 pictured because I already gave some away) for $3.

Kids Toothpaste @ Albies

If you have kids then you know how overpriced kids toothpastes are. They normally charge you $3-4 for a thing of toothpaste that doesn't last very long. Well Albies ad this week states that select Colgate toothpastes are on sale 10/$10. They don't specifically list the kids toothpaste as one of the 10/$10 items but they are. So even without a coupon that is a good price. But there is a $.75/1 coupon in the 7/26 SS that makes these only $.25 each! The coupon does expire on 8/15 so you would want to use it by this weekend.

Super Cheap Baby Wipes @ Wags

My Walgreens has their 64-72 ct Huggies baby wipe tubs for $2.79. There is a $2 off Wags coupon in their new Back 2 School coupon booklet that you can find at the front of the store with their ad. You don't have to have one coupon per item. I bought 4 of these cartons and the store coupon automatically took off $8 ($2 per tub). There are also are $.50/1 MFC coupon in 7/19 SS which you can stack with the store coupon making them even cheaper. I had 4 of the MFC coupons and so I was able to get 4 tubs for $.29 each!

BTW: So I was thinking that I should check through my Huggies coupons that I get in the mail from time to time and check for anymore wipe coupons and found that I have three $.75/1 coupons that don't expire until this weekend. I may have to go back and pick up a few more tubs. Stacking these mailer coupons with the store coupons would make each pack only $.04 each! Be sure to check your coupon stash!

Thanks & Great Job!

A few things I wanted to say:

Thanks to my sister-in-law Alisa who first inspired me to try to be more frugal. Through her example and help to learn how to do this I have saved SO MUCH MONEY and been able to really stock up on so many things! There are so many items that I know I will never pay money for ever again. Thanks Alisa!

Thanks to my sister Kathleen who plays along with me. She has gotten really good at finding the deals up in Montana and puts up with me calling her all the time telling her the new latest deal. It has been fun to do this together with you Kathleen!

And GREAT JOB to my sister-in-law Ryan who lives in Colorado. It can be hard to figure all this out at first but she is doing a fantastic job. She and I have different stores and different ads so she has really had to figure things out on her own. If anyone knows of a good blogger who lists deals at Colorado grocery stores please let me know. Great Job Ryan!

Smiths is Doubling

So now that Albies is in the process of being sold to Associated Foods a lot of people have been hoping to see Smiths step up to take their place and today they impressed me. They are having a 3 day double coupon sale (Sun - Tues). And the nice thing is that you don't have to do doublers like at Albies and only do 2 or 3 per transaction. It was so easy. The register just automatically doubles anything under $2 (up to $2). They won't give you an overage so if the item that you are buying is $.79 and you have a $50/1 coupon then it just doubles up $.29 to make that item free.

My total before coupons was $62 and after coupons I paid $11.05.
(Sorry no picture today).

Here is what I got:

1 - Dannon Activia $1.88
Used $1/1 (SS-7/26) doubled - FREE

2 - Dole pineapple tidbits *tuna sized can* .79
Used two IP coupons $.50/1 doubled - $.29 each

1 - French's mustard $1.49
Used $.75/1 (SS-5/10) doubled - FREE

3 - Ken's salad dressing $1.99
Used three $1/1 (SS-8/2) doubled - FREE

4 - Land O Frost Bistro Lunchmeat, 6 oz $2.99
Used four $1/1 (RP-6/28) doubled - $ .99 each

1 - McCormick Imitation Vanilla Extract $2.99
Used $1/1 IP doubled - $.99

6 - Ortega green chiles 4 oz. $1.29
Used six $1/2 (SS-6/28) doubled - $.29 each wyb two

4 - True North snacks $2.50
Used four $1/1 (SS-2/8) doubled - $.50 each

4 - Cover Girl nail polish $2.99
Used four $1/1 (PG-8/2)
Promo: buy 4 Cover Girl items get $4 off non P&G items in your transaction (comes off instantly) - FREE

2 - Campbells Mushroom Soup $1.09
Used $1/2 IP doubled - $.09 each

1 bag of Jennie-O Frozen Turkey Burgers $5.99
Used $5 Biggest Loser coupon (can't double) - $.99

Horray for Smiths! The checker was so nice and had no trouble with the coupons and the register made it so easy. I hope they do this more often!

HERE is a link to the PYP thread that gives you some good doubler ideas!

Albies 7/3 - GM/Unilever Promo

I was really looking forward to Albies 3 day sale because there were some really good deals on things that we use a lot of.

Here is my haul from this morning:

Total OOP cost was $13.28!

1st Transaction:
8 Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal - $2 each
2 Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks - $2 each
3 Macaroni Grill Dinner Kits - $3.50 each
Total before coupons and promo: $30.50 (have to spend $30 before coupons for the cats to print)

Used four $1/2 cereal Qs
Used two $.40/1 Fruit Snack Qs
Used one $1/1 Mac Grill Qs
Used two $1.10/1 Mac Grill Qs
Used $5 doublers (you can use the 3 doublers from the Tuesday mailer and the 2 doublers from the Sunday paper at the same time ... at least you can at my Albies)
Used $18 in cats from the Qtips deal posted previously
Total OOP: $.26 and got back $15 in new cats

2nd Transaction:
4 Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal - $2 each
2 Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks - $2 each
1 Macaroni Grill Dinner Kits - $3.50 each
4 boxes of Fiber One Bars - $2.50 each
2 bags of Nature Valley Nut Clusters - $2.50 each
Total before coupons and promo: $30.50

Used two $1/2 cereal Qs
Used two $.40/1 Fruit Snack Qs
Used one $1/1 Mac Grill Qs
Used four $.40/1 Fiber One Qs
Used two $1/1 Nut Clusters Qs
Used $5 doublers
Used $15 in cats from previous trans
Total OOP: $3.86 and got back $15 in new cats

3rd Transaction:
2 Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks - $2 each
4 Macaroni Grill Dinner Kits - $3.50 each
3 boxes of Fiber One Bars - $2.50 each
2 bags of Nature Valley Nut Clusters - $2.50 each
Total before coupons and promo: $30.50

Used two $.40/1 Fruit Snack Qs
Used one $1/1 Mac Grill Qs
Used two $1.10/1 Mac Grill Qs
Used three $.40/1 Fiber One Qs
Used two $1/1 Nut Clusters Qs
Used $3 doublers
Used $15 in cats from previous trans
Total OOP: $5.12 and got back $15 in new cats
(I would've used another $5 cat on this but at this point the cashier pointed out to me that I was supposed to have to at least pay for all the tax which was fine with me)

4thTransaction:
6 Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal - $2 each
2 Macaroni Grill Dinner Kits - $3.50 each
3 boxes of Fiber One Bars - $2.50 each
2 bags of Nature Valley Nut Clusters - $2.50 each
Total before coupons and promo: $31.50

Used three $1/2 cereal Qs
Used two $1.10/1 Mac Grill Qs
Used three $.40/1 Fiber One Qs
Used two $1/1 Nut Clusters Qs
(out of doublers)
Used $20 in cats from previous trans
Total OOP: $4.04 and got back $15 in new cats

I started with $28 in cats, spent $13.28 OOP and still have $20 in cats to use on future purchases. So in the end this all cost me $21.28 total. Before coupons and promos this would've cost me $219.18!!

Now I usually have my kids with me when I go to the store so I always plan my transactions out beforehand so that I can go in, know exactly what to grab and get out. My kids like to have a job something they are in charge of grabbing and I just tell them how many to get. This trip was really quick and painless. When I am planning out my trip I make a little spreadsheet, clip my coupons together in batches for each transaction and label them so it's really easy when I go to the store. Now it would've been easier if I could've just done one trans with all the fruit snacks in it, one for the cereal and so on but my Albies will only take 2 of each time of IP coupon per transaction so if I have a lot of IPs then I can't put them all together in the same trans so I seperate those out so I won't run into any trouble when I get there. Knowing these little restrictions and planning for them beforehand make things go much smoother at the store and help you get in and out faster and easier.

Now there are a lot more things on promo then the 5 things I stocked up on but these were things that we go through a lot of.
Cinnamon Toast Crunch - the only cereal Brandon will eat
Fiber One bars - Eric eats cereal bars like these for breakfast every morning
Nut Clusters - my favorite afternoon snack
Fruit Snacks - we were all out and of course my kids love them but have learned that I only buy them when they are on a super sale
Macaroni Grill Dinner kits - yummy, easy and nice to have on hand. I was actually watching for a deal on these.

Yeah - now off to reorganize my ever filling food storage room!

Unilever Overlapping Promos

There are 2 overlapping Unilever promotions running right now at Albertsons. For the details on participating items and things like that check out this PYP thread.

I was able to get 10 boxes (500 ct) or Qtips for $.90.
They are on sale for $3 each. So OOP for 10 boxes w/o coupons would cost you $30. There are $.30/1 coupons in the 5/17RP and in tomorrows paper and doublers so those take off a little of the OOP price.

Here are the promos:

Unilever currently advertised promo: Buy $30 in participating items and get $12 back in cats to use OYNSO.

General Mills, Unilever, and Dr. Pepper promo which is advertised in tomorrows paper: Buy $30 in participating items and get $15 back in cats to use OYNSO.

So buy $30 in participating items and get back $27 in cats!

Here is one ladies great transaction ideas that I found on PYP (thanks phoeandkohlsmom). This should give you some ideas as to what you can use and what you'd like to stock up on. I did the Qtip transaction because that was all that I needed and it worked perfectly.

1st transaction
10 - 500 ct Q-tips @ 2/$6 = $30
Minus 10 $.30/1 Q's
(I could have used doublers but forgot.)
Total with tax $29.06 printed $27 in cat's (3 $5, a $10, and a $2)

Next transaction
7 - 25.4 oz bottles of Dove Shampoo/Conditioner @$4.99 = $34.93
Minus 7 $1/1 Q's
Minus 3 doublers
Minus catalinas from previous transaction.
Total paid $.32 (YAHOO!) and I got back another $27 in cat's

Next transaction
6 boxes of Vaseline Clinical strength lotion 6.8 oz @ 5.00 = $30
Minus 6 $1/1 IP Q's found here
www.prescribethenation.com (2/computer)
Minus three doublers
Minus cat's from previous transaction (I didn't need to use them all because total was $21 plus tax!!!!) and I got back another $27 in cat's
